Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announced Tuesday that the province is adding enhanced health measures for continuing cares centres to protect them from COVID-19.

Starting Oct. 25, masking will be required at all times in Alberta continuing care facilities.

Residents will also be required to quarantine after being admitted to the facility or returning from hospital until they receive a negative COVID-19 test.

Alberta chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw will also be sending out a letter encouraging families and friends who are not fully vaccinated to avoid visiting or attending to residents in person.
