A service was at Westminster Abbey in London, England on Monday in memory of U.K. MP David Amess, who was stabbed to death on Friday as he met with constituents, in an attack that has fueled concern about politicians' safety and the level of vitriol directed at them.

The popular legislator served in Parliament for almost 40 years.

The House of Commons returned Monday, ahead of the service, after a three-week break and most of the scheduled business has been replaced by tributes to Amess.

The government has also ordered a review of lawmakers' security following the attack on Friday. British politicians are protected by armed police when they are in Parliament, but generally are not given such protection when they meet with constituents.
