At least five provinces in China have announced that children aged three to 11 will be required to get vaccinated against Covid-19. The expansion of the nation’s immunisation campaign in early November 2021 comes as authorities try to stop the spread of cases under their zero-tolerance policy. China reported 54 local coronavirus infections on November 1, 2021. Of those, 27 cases were found in the northeastern province of Heilongjiang. Local authorities in the city of Heihe near the Russian border have tightened Covid-19 control measures to prevent the virus from spreading to neighbouring regions.
