Three dead as 'violent cyclone' batters Sicily with floods and 75mph winds
Telegraph, 26 Oct 2021
Three people have been killed in Sicily as the Mediterranean island was lashed with rainstorms and hit by heavy flooding, which experts said was most likely caused by global warming.
The worst affected part of the island was the city of Catania, where the historic main piazza was inundated with floodwaters and an adjacent fish market, a photogenic spot popular with tourists, was also flooded.
Streets were turned into raging torrents and a hospital was flooded.
