Hong Kong legislators passed a bill on October 27, 2021, to strengthen the city’s film censorship law. The city’s Chief Secretary will be authorised to ban previously approved productions that are deemed a threat to national security. At the same time, it has raised the maximum jail term to up to three years, for anyone who screens movies already classified as a threat.
