Three gatherings will be investigated as part of the probe into the government's 2020 Christmas parties.

Michael Ellis, the Paymaster General, said the terms of the investigation will be set out in a paper in the Commons library later today.

He added that the Cabinet Secretary's investigation "will establish the facts surrounding allegations made of a gathering at Number 10 Downing Street on November 27, 2020, a gathering at the Department for Education on December 10, 2020, and allegations made of a gathering at Number 10 Downing Street on December 18, 2020".

The "nature, setting and purpose" of these gatherings will be established "with reference to guidance in place at the time".
