Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino is fighting fires at home and abroad. ‘The West Block’ host Mercedes Stephenson speaks with Mendicino about the Liberals’ controversial approach to its gun ban in Bill C-21, and the foreign interference threats that are ‘abound’ for Canada. Stephenson pushes Mendicino on where the advice came from for the amendment, and what kinds of laws Canada might be looking at to protect against foreign interference.

Plus, Stephenson sits down with Defence Minister Anita Anand about the crises confronting the Canadian Armed Forces. Anand gets personal about the long year it’s been trying to reform the CAF in line with former Supreme Court justice Louise Arbour’s 48 recommendations for transformative change. She also talks about the balancing act of sending Canadian troops around the globe to serve during personnel and equipment shortages.
