The "Eighty-Seven Immortals" and "Celestial Rulers" are two highly identical paintings with a Daoist theme. Why are they so identical? Did their creators plagiarize each another? Or is one original and the other counterfeit? Xu Beihong said that "Eighty-Seven Immortals" represented the pinnacle of Chinese art history, so it must be painted by Wu Daozi of the Tang Dynasty (618-907).
