Over 100 students took part in a nunchuck performance near Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour on April 14, 2023, to mark China’s National Security Education Day. The theme day first designated on the mainland in 2015 was adopted by Hong Kong in 2021, several months after Beijing imposed a national security law on the city to prohibit secession, subversion, terrorism and collusion with foreign forces. The event was also organised as a tribute to martial arts legend Bruce Lee, who popularised nunchucks by using them in his kung fu films.
