PSAC provides update on status of negotations with Treasury Board, CRA | FULL

CA, 17 Apr 2023
The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) will provide an update Monday morning about the status of negotiations with the Treasury Board and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on behalf of more than 155,000 public service workers.

PSAC national president, Chris Aylward, will deliver a statement alongside Sharon DeSousa, PSAC national executive vice-president, and Yvon Barrière, PSAC regional executive vice-president for Quebec.

Aylward said last week that an “overwhelming majority” of its members had voted in favour of a strike, adding that Treasury Board workers were in a legal strike position as of Wednesday. But he said the union's desire was to reach a deal with the federal government.

It's division representing 35,000 CRA workers also voted in favour of a strike and were in a legal striking position as of Friday.

“Our members don’t take the decision to strike lightly. They know that a strike will be difficult for them and for the Canadians who depend on the services they provide, but they’re exercising their bargaining power because they can’t wait any longer,” Aylward told reporters at a news conference in Ottawa last week.
