Canadian ministers speak in Washington, D.C. following semiconductor conference | LIVE
CA, 19 May 2023
Following their appearance at the North American semiconductor conference in Washington, D.C., Canada’s Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne and Economic Development Minister Mary Ng will be providing an update on their visit to the U.S. capital — live, from the Embassy of Canada to the United States.
The intention of Champagne’s and Ng’s Washington visit was not only to discuss how to strengthen and secure the semiconductor supply chain across the continent but to meet with U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo.
The visit comes amid pressure of a potential invasion of Taiwan from China. Because Taiwan is one of the world’s largest semiconductor suppliers, an invasion of the country could trigger a global economic crisis.
