Thailand’s opposition heavyweight Pheu Thai party said it was ready to form a coalition with the reformist Move Forward Party (MFP) that claimed victory in the 2023 general election on May 15, 2023. The front runners have proposed a six-party alliance that would guarantee 309 seats in the lower house, but only if the other parties approached by MFP leader Pita Limjaroenrat decide to join. The number would also still be short of the 376 seats Pita would need to ensure he would be elected to become the next prime minister.
