Based on the classic and beloved collection of short stories by Rudyard Kipling, Jungle Book Reimagined is a dance production by the Akram Khan Company that is being staged in Hong Kong as part of the 2022 New Vision Arts Festival. This new adaptation draws from the themes of The Jungle Book, which tells the tale of Mowgli, a boy raised in the wild who navigates a dangerous world caught between humans and nature.
Farooq Chaudhry, co-founder and producing director of the Akram Khan Company, explains what the audience can expect from this reimagined version of the story, how it reflects the issues of today, and the work that was involved in bringing all the animal characters to life through dance.
