Fly with me: A baby Siberian crane refuses to grow up
CGTN, 09 Nov 2022
A baby Siberian crane arrived at Poyang Lake in east China's Jiangxi Province for its first winter. Everything is new to the chick, but danger also looms. The lake, swarmed by hundreds of thousands of birds every winter, becomes a theater of competition. The company of the chick's mom is absolutely necessary to the needy creature. What will the worried mom tell the innocent little child?
Poyang is the largest freshwater lake in China. Every year, over 700,000 birds fly here from their breeding grounds to spend the winter. For Siberian cranes, a critically endangered species under first-class state protection in China, the lake is a unique place as about 98 percent of its population takes it as their winter home.
