It’s municipal election day in the province: Ontarians will vote for representatives for their local school board, councillors and mayor, with polls closing at 8 pm ET on Monday.

Toronto's mayoral incumbent John Tory is seeking a third consecutive term, while Brampton’s Patrick Brown is seeking to hold on to elected office. Other races will see a change at the mayoral level, like in Ottawa, where outgoing Mayor Jim Watson is not seeking re-election.

Experts believe that after more than two years of the pandemic, and in the face of growing financial worries for the city, reliable service delivery and housing affordability, rather than high-ticket projects, are at the top of the ballot.

Global News is hosting a live special to provide up-to-date results and analysis from 7:30 pm ET.
