Oxford High School shooting: Michigan teen Ethan Crumbley pleads guilty to murder, terrorism charges

CA, 25 Oct 2022
Michigan teenager Ethan Crumbley pleaded guilty on Monday to murder and terrorism charges in connection to the mass shooting at Oxford High School on Nov. 30, 2021, that killed four of his classmates and wounded more than a half dozen people.

Crumbley was accused of opening fire at the school outside Detroit, Mich., with a semi-automatic handgun that his father purchased for him as a Christmas gift days before the massacre.

“This is an important day for our community,” Oakland County prosecutor Karen McDonald said after Crumbley pled guilty in a courtroom in Pontiac, Mich.

“Today is about some small closure that this is not going to be a trial. And he pled as charged to all 24 counts. And so, you know, I sat with the victims and this is hard for them. It’s emotional, but it’s a step forward and we’re relieved.”

Crumbley, who was 15 years old at the time of the shooting, pleaded guilty to a total of 24 charges, including one count of terrorism causing death and four counts of first-degree murder.
