Traditional cockfighting arenas in the Philippines are back to running at full capacity after being shut for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. During that period, the government granted permits to seven firms to host the bloody contests and take bets online. However, former president Rodrigo Duterte later reversed course and banned online cockfighting in May 2022 after it came under scrutiny.
