Paramedics in jet packs fly up mountainside in world first bad weather trial
Telegraph, 19 Oct 2022
Paramedics have flown up a mountainside in a world first trial of jet pack rescue flights in tough weather conditions in the Lake District.
Emergency paramedic Jamie Walsh, who works with the Great North Air Ambulance Service has been helping test the packs’ suitability for use in paramedic rescues.
He had eight or nine days’ worth of training to reach “a point now where we’re in a position to actually reach a casualty on a mountainside in Cumbria” he said, adding that this was “really exciting”.
“To be able to do that in the difficult rain and wind conditions because obviously in Cumbria, it rains and it's windy a lot; it went really, really well,” he said.
