Cabinet Office minister suggests Sue Gray didn't follow protocol on job with Labour
Guardian, 07 Mar 2023
Cabinet office minister Jeremy Quin said senior civil servant Sue Gray didn't follow process before she accepted a job offer with opposition leader Keir Starmer. During an urgent question in Commons on Monday, Quin described the prospect of a serving permanent secretary resigning to join the opposition as unprecedented. He added that Acoba (Advisory Committee on Business Appointments) was responsible for what types of jobs civil servants can accept when leaving government, but that 'Cabinet Office has not as yet been informed that the relevant notification to Acoba has been made,' despite contacts with the opposition.
