Swat valley is known as the "Switzerland of Pakistan" – a popular vacation spot in the north mostly inhabited by native Pashtuns who have been living their lives in a traditional way, for centuries. Nestled in the outskirts of the picturesque valley lies Islampur, a small town that has been in the limelight for its handcrafted shawls. Nearly every family here is involved in producing these shawls. But this ancient craft is under threat, due to political turmoil, natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic.
