Foreign election interference: Trudeau grilled on "multi-pronged approach" in question period | LIVE

CA, 09 Mar 2023
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to attend question period in Ottawa's House of Commons on Thursday, where he's expected to take questions about the alleged election interference by China.

This follows a Liberal cabinet meeting and a session of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs, where Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly and Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure and Communities Minister Dominic LeBlanc appeared.

Earlier this week, Trudeau committed to new steps his government will take to combat foreign interference, including additional independent investigations and further steps toward establishing a foreign agents registry. But, none of the steps in Trudeau’s multi-pronged approach included a public inquiry, which Opposition leaders had signalled earlier in the day was the only method of investigation they would support.
