Erin Brockovich says East Palestine contamination problems will continue for years after derailment

CA, 26 Feb 2023
Environmental advocate Erin Brockovich spoke in East Palestine Friday evening as part of a legal seminar, informing residents of what it would take to mount a lawsuit following Norfolk Southern’s train derailment 21 days before.

"We're going to give you as much information as we can...Some of it, you might not want to hear. It might surprise you. It could scare you," Brockovich told a packed crowd at the East Palestine High School auditorium.

But now you can know more. So you're prepared better. So you can plan better as we move forward,” Brockovich told a packed crowd at the East Palestine High School auditorium.

The legal seminar was led by attorney Mikal Watts, who explained the history of some train derailments. Watts make emphasized getting blood and urine tests for toxins as soon as possible.

“My encouragement to you is: get tested. If it says you don't have anything great, you've got the peace of mind of knowing. If it says you have something, you now have an objective medical basis for what's known as a fear of cancer,” he said.
