Time is running out for the hundreds, perhaps thousands, still trapped in collapsed apartment buildings in southern Turkey and Northern Syria. The human will to survive may burn strong but the body’s strength fades fast beyond the 72-hour mark without warmth and sustenance.

Civilians are continuing to conduct search and rescue operations in Turkey and Syria after 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes hit, and are still pulling people alive from the debris.

A major humanitarian effort will be needed to assist those who have lost their homes.
