A major winter storm hit more than two dozen states starting earlier this week, with residents from California and Oregon to New York and Minnesota all feeling the chilling cold as snow dropped onto their communities.

The snow left drivers trapped in their cars, the power knocked out for thousands of people, and the cancellations of numerous flights. It even led to the first blizzard warning southern California has seen in decades.

There were also warnings of extremely low temperatures, with officials warning temperatures could drop as low as -20 F (-29 C) Thursday to -25 F (-32 C) Friday in parts of North Dakota, with similar temperatures in other states as well.
