Rwanda turns to electric motorbikes to drive down emissions
AFP, 18 Feb 2022
Rwanda Electric Motors Ltd converts motorcycles to run on electric in a bid to reduce air pollution in the capital Kigali. The company has converted around 80 motorcycle taxis so far, the most common form of public transport in Kigali, and developed another 200 brand-new electric motorbikes for use in the country. The project is part of an ambitious push by Rwanda's government to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 16 percent by 2030 and a further 38 percent over the following decade.
