Trucker protests: Canada's finance committee on invocation of Emergencies Act | LIVE

CA, 23 Feb 2022
Canada's House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance (FINA) will hold a meeting to discuss the financial implications of invoking the Emergencies Act and other measures used in response to the convoy blockades in Ottawa and at several border crossings across the country.

The Emergencies Act was approved by Parliament, in a key vote in the House of Commons, on Monday night. Under the terms of the Act, the government was required to table this type of motion within seven days of invoking the Emergencies Act on Feb. 14.

The mandate of the Standing Committee on Finance is to study and report on all matters relating to the mandate, management and operation of selected federal departments and agencies, including the Department of Finance and the Canada Revenue Agency, and to conduct pre-budget consultations.
