The Russia-Ukraine conflict has had direct and tragic repercussions on civilians forced to flee cities under siege, but other areas are feeling the pinch of the sanctions on Russia, such as space exploration. "The Hub with Wang Guan" looks at the fallout of the Russian "special military operations" that started three weeks ago and talks to Chris Melzer, spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), to get a sense of how more than 3 million refugees are coping on the ground in Ukraine and in neighboring countries as the UNHCR and NGOs are racing against time to provide relief and shelter. Wang Guan also talks to Amitabha Gosh, chair of the Science Operations Working Group at NASA Mars Exploration Rover Mission, and to Xu Yansong, director general of the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization, to discuss how sanctions affect space exploration and cooperation between Russia on one hand and the EU and the U.S on the other.
