Rising danger, crippling costs: Climate change report a grim warning for Canada
CA, 01 Mar 2022
The impacts of climate change continue to mount, with a recent UN report giving Canada a warning after various climate-related disasters cost the country billions of dollars in damages from wildfires in the West to reduced seafood harvests in the East.
The report by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change found that current emission policies put the globe on track for up to 2.7 degrees of warming, beyond the Paris Agreement target of two degrees.
Secretary-general Antonio Guterres calls climate change an "atlas of human suffering" and that people are being "clobbered" by it. Heather Yourex-West reports.
