Russian air strikes pummelled cities across Ukraine’s northern front on March 3, 2022, as the advance of invading ground forces slowed amid fierce resistance and mechanical problems. A US Defence Department official estimated that 480 missiles have been launched into Ukraine from locations in Russia and Belarus since Moscow’s invasion began. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued an emotional call for air support and establishment of a no-fly zone to prevent further civilian losses.
