Iran has called for special guarantees that Washington will stay committed to a possible agreement on restoring the 2015 nuclear deal. In an interview posted on a government website, Iran's foreign minister said Tehran needed more than mere words from a U.S. head of state and instead preferred a "political statement" from bodies such as the U.S. Congress. Talks are ongoing in Vienna to revive the deal which the Trump Administration abandoned in 2018.
