Ukraine Crisis: Labour calls for crackdown on Russian money laundering in UK
Sky, 16 Feb 2022
The Shadow Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury has called on the Government to do more to stop illicit laundering of Russian cash in London.
Abena Oppong-Asare said "tough sanctions" were needed if Russia invaded Ukraine, including a crackdown on UK institutions that allow money from Moscow to flow through London.
The Government has come under pressure to review how Russian oligarchs launder their cash in London - the Foreign Affairs Select Committee said last month it would look at the issue.
