Ukraine, Russian envoys in tense exchange at UN Security Council emergency meeting

Ukrainian and Russian representatives clashed at the United Nations Security Council emergency meeting after Russia announced the launch of a “special military operation” in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Ukraine’s UN ambassador Sergiy Kyslytsya accused Russia of declaring war on his country. In response, his Russian counterpart, Vassily Nebenzia, blamed Ukraine for failing to heed Russian advice to stop “provocations'' in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
