Russian opposition politician Vladimir Kara-Murza said the attack on Ukraine was not being done in the name of the Russian people - and that thousands were taking to the streets in protest.

Describing President Putin as "increasingly deranged" he said cultural, scientific and sports people were becoming more vocal in their opposition to Putin's actions.

And he said major political change in Russia can happen in a heartbeat - and that would be a good thing for the country and the rest of Europe.
