Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to address the European Union parliament on Wednesday as part of his trip to Europe amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

This is Trudeau's second visit to Europe in March, this time to join an extraordinary NATO meeting to co-ordinate the military alliance's response to Russia's attack on Ukraine and will meet with fellow G7 leaders before returning to Canada on Friday.

Trudeau’s speech is set to stress the importance of countries on both sides of the Atlantic working together to defend democracy in the face of Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.

Two weeks ago Trudeau met with leaders of Britain, Germany and Poland and met with NATO troops in Latvia.
