French police undertake initial investigations at the shop where a knife-wielding man held two women hostage in the capital's 12th arrondissement. Following long negotiations led by the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) the man released the mother unharmed, shortly before 10 pm before being arrested the following morning after releasing the second hostage, the daughter unharmed, after 8 am.
