Following extreme heavy rain on December 17-18, 2021, Malaysia’s worst flooding in decades has killed at least 14 people and forced more than 60,000 to flee their homes. The country’s most economically developed state of Selangor was hardest hit by the flooding, with drone footage captured on December 21 showing waters not receding in the neighbourhood of Taman Sri Muda. In central Malaysia’s Pahang state, houses and vehicles were seen partially submerged in floodwaters. The Malaysian Meteorological Department has warned of more storms and heavy rainfall in the coming days.
