Turnips Fly at Spain’s Jarramplas Fest

After the pandemic stopped play in 2021, tradition trumped COVID in the Spanish village of Piornal this week, where a bizarre annual festival held in honor of Saint Sebastian has resumed. It features hundreds of turnips being thrown at a person dressed as the mythical character Jarramplas. Let’s hope it doesn’t hurt as much as it looks like it would!
