Officials in Colorado will provide an update Tuesday afternoon on the latest developments after a wildfire tore through suburban neighbourhoods between Denver and Boulder, as well as on the investigation into the cause of the fire.

Nearly 1,000 homes and other buildings were destroyed by the fire, which came unusually late in the year following a dry fall and a winter nearly devoid of snow. Experts said those conditions, along with high winds, helped the fire spread.

Utility officials found no downed power lines around where the fire broke out. On Saturday, Boulder County Sheriff Joe Pelle said authorities were pursuing a number of tips and had executed a search warrant at "one particular location." However, he declined to provide any further details.
