Tory MP urges government to 'go back to the drawing board' over tax hike
Sky, 30 Jan 2022
Conservative MP Robert Halfon is opposed to the planned tax hike which will go ahead in April despite a looming cost of living crisis.
Speaking to Sky's Trevor Phillips, he said he agreed the money was needed for the health service and social care but the government should "go back to the drawing board" to rethink how to raise funds.
He suggested there should be windfall taxes on big businesses such as oil companies, or even a raise on capital gains tax.
