Trawler dumps 100,000 fish off the coast of France

A European giant trawler has dumped over 100,000 dead fish in the Atlantic Ocean, forming a floating carpet of carcasses that alarmed environmental campaigners.
The Dutch-owned trawler FV Margiris – the world’s second-largest fishing vessel – spilled its catch after its net ruptured on Thursday, according to the fishing industry group Pelagic Freezer-Trawler Association (PFA), which represents the vessel’s owner.
