Telegraph, 30 Sep 2021
Dame Cressida Dick said she is "so sorry" to the family of Sarah Everard as she admitted the "precious bond of trust" with police had been damaged.
The Commissioner, speaking outside the Old Bailey after former Met Police officer Wayne Couzens was handed a whole-life term, said: "There are no words that can express the fury and overwhelming sadness that we all feel about what happened to Sarah. I am so sorry."
She added: "I absolutely know that there are those that feel their trust in us is shaken. I recognise that for some people, a precious bond of trust has been damaged."
