Supporters of France's far-right and hard-left parties celebrated as presidential candidates for traditional mainstream parties failed dismally in Sunday's first-round vote. With the far-left, far-right and centre garnering over 75 percent of votes, the French political landscape is witnessing a restructuring. “The parties are organising around three poles,” says UC Berkeley lecturer Claire Tourmen, calling the new trend a “tripolarisation”.
