Boris Johnson and the German chancellor are holding a Downing Street press conference following talks on how to wean European countries off of Russian gas.

The Prime Minister hosted Olaf Scholz on Friday, amid concerns Germany is still reliant on Russia for around half of its natural gas imports, and around 40 per cent for Europe more broadly.

Mr Johnson is expected to offer assistance to Berlin to reduce its dependence on Moscow's energy exports in a bid to starve Vladimir Putin's war machine of funds.
