April 22, 2022: Russia pushes Mariupol offensive, Disney of self-governing status, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Biden, Al-Aqsa mosque

 1. A Russian general declared that Moscow wants to seize all of southern and eastern Ukraine, far wider war aims than it had acknowledged as it presses on with a new offensive after its campaign to capture the capital Kyiv collapsed last month.

2. Florida lawmakers gave their final approval to a bill ending Walt Disney Co's designation as a self-governing entity in an apparent response to its opposition to a new state law limiting the teaching of LGBTQ issues in schools.

3. Republican U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene will face a challenge in a Georgia court by a group of voters trying to block her from the ballot, citing a post-Civil War policy aimed at keeping insurrectionists from serving in office.

4. U.S. President Joe Biden marks Earth Day with a trip to lush but fire-prone Washington state and the signing of an executive order to protect old-growth forests.

5. At least 31 Palestinians were injured in clashes with Israeli police at Al-Aqsa mosque compound in Jerusalem, Palestinian medics said, the latest outbreak in a recent upsurge of violence at a site revered by Muslims and Jews alike.
