"Shanghai residents are fighting back against authorities amid a severe shortage of food, medical supplies and basic necessities caused by the city's zero-Covid strategy.

Video footage posted online shows locals clashing with officials in hazmat suits who are trying to cart people off into mass quarantine facilities.

Other health workers are seen forcing PCR tests upon the public.

People are not allowed to leave their homes under any circumstances and are reliant on government rations being delivered to their doors. They are not even permitted to go to hospital in a medical emergency.

Videos from inside the city's makeshift Covid isolation centres in the city show unsanitary conditions. China’s government sent large numbers of medical staff into the city to complete mass testing when cases spiked in March. However, many doubt the reliability of both the testing and China’s vaccine.
