US Gun Violence: Biden delivers address following a series of mass shootings | LIVE

CA, 03 Jun 2022
U.S. President Joe Biden will deliver a speech on gun violence in America on Thursday after a spate of recent mass shootings in the country.

His remarks come a day after a deadly shooting at a hospital complex in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in which four people were killed.

It also follows the massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on May 24, which resulted in the deaths of 19 children and two teachers as the deadliest school shooting in nearly a decade.

More than a week prior to the shooting in Texas, 10 people were killed and three were injured in a deadly shooting at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York. That shooting is being investigated as a federal hate crime and a case of racially motivated violent extremism.

The series of recent gun violence has led Democratic leaders to amplify their calls for greater restrictions on guns, while Republicans are emphasizing more security at schools. The partisan split has stymied action in Congress and many state capitols over how best to respond to a record-high number of gun-related deaths in the U.S.
