Thousands gathered on the streets of the Thai capital on June 5, 2022, for the nation’s first official pride parade since 2006. “Naruemit Pride 2022” – naruemit meaning “creation” in Thai – was organised by a coalition of non-governmental organisations and received the backing of Bangkok’s newly elected governor Chadchart Sittipunt, who has voiced support for policies in the interest of sexual diversity and equality.
