Pakistan floods: Satellite images show before and after as floodwaters create inland lake
CA, 03 Sep 2022
Satellite images taken this week showed the before and after of the damage caused by torrential rains and flooding that have created a 100-km-wide inland lake and submerged a third of Pakistan.
Record monsoon rains and melting glaciers in northern mountains brought unprecedented floods that have killed at least 1,208 people, including 416 children, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has said.
The inundation, blamed on climate change, is expected to continue with Pakistan's meteorological office predicting more rains and flash flooding for the month of September.
