Salman Rushdie airlifted to hospital after being stabbed at New York event

The author Salman Rushdie has been transferred by helicopter to a hospital after being attacked at an event in New York. According to police, Rushdie, 75, suffered ‘what appear to be knife wounds to the neck’. His condition is unknown
