Minister of Environment and Climate Change Steven Guilbeault is expected to make a Thursday announcement on measures for Canadian home heating affordability, as part of Ottawa's support in transitioning to a lower carbon economy.

The Minister will be holding a press conference alongside Members of Parliament Kody Blois (Kings-Hants) and Joanne Thompson (St. John’s East).

Whether a home is heated by natural gas, heating oil, or propane for a boiler and furnace, energy analysts say this could be an expensive winter amid surging energy prices.

Soaring prices reflect a global energy crunch, as economies recovering from the impact of COVID-19 and supply disruptions of the Russia-Ukraine war run up against an increase in demands.
